This guide is general information to help families organise care. It is not medical advice — follow your parent's doctor.

Patterns worth noticing

What a daily check-in can show

A drop in reply rate, more "not yet" answers, or confused replies over a few weeks is a useful early signal to discuss with their doctor.

Safety steps now

Getting an assessment

Ask their doctor for a referral to a neurologist, psychiatrist or geriatric clinic for a memory assessment. Some symptoms have treatable causes such as low B12, thyroid problems or medicine side effects.
